SAWDEC

Arcom
has revolutionized and revitalized the passive scrambling market with
the introduction of SAWDEC. SAWDEC is a scramble/descramble system
which provides excellent security and incredibly clear picture quality.
It is the only passive security system approved by HBO.
SAWDEC solves the traditional problems inherent with positive traps-ease
of piracy and extremely poor picture quality-yet it offers the cost
advantage so critical in many markets. Integral to SAWDEC is the use
of a Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) decoding filter, a product which
took years to develop and which is completely unique to Arcom. Equally
integral is the headend digital encoder/modulator. The encoder/modulator
scrambles and performs frame-by-frame digital signal processing of
the video, and modulates the channel to RF. SAWDEC is the only high-security,
low cost method of securing a pay channel for cable systems operators.
It is truly a giant technological leap. The most recent enhancement
to this product line is the addition of optional audio scrambling.
In many markets programming content necessitates this option.

MN Negative Traps

In the major markets, negative traps are the preferred method for securing high-penetration pay services. They coexist well with addressable technology. Transparent to the subscriber, broadband negative traps operate by removing the video carrier of the pay channel, effectively eliminating the pay service to unauthorized households. Consumer-friendly to subscribers with cable ready television and VCR's negative traps provide affordable "hard" security. The Arcom MN is the industry's smallest four-pole negative trap. Double and triple channel versions built in one housing are available to order. 1GHz Passbands are available. To trap adjacent channels on frequencies above 220 MHz requires ultra sharp traps - the latest Arcom SAW filters are ideal for these applications.

SN Saw Filters

Arcom has developed a highly stable low-loss trap using "Surface Acoustic Wave" technology, a major industry advance. SAW SN Negative traps are extremely sharp and have no adverse effects on adjacent channels at any frequency. SN filters can be used in applications where traditional LC negative filters would seriously degrade or even obliterate adjacent channels. Arcom SAWs are manufactured using quartz substrate to exacting micron tolerances and are easily able to control pay services on Super and Hyperband channels with the same effectiveness as traditional L/C traps on low band frequencies.
Housed in a robust mechanical package protected from surges, SAW technology is the ideal way to provide user-friendly protection of pay services on the higher channels.

MP Positive Traps

Securing low-penetration pay services requires an effective and economical solution. Positive traps are a viable and extremely popular method of fulfilling this need. Positive traps ideally suited to emerging markets and are consumer-friendly to cable ready televisions and VCRs. Positive scrambling operates by inserting jamming carriers into the television signal at the head-end, thereby scrambling the channel. For authorized subscribers, these jamming carriers are then removed by means of a high-Q filter such as the Arcom MP four-pole positive trap. 1GHz passbands are available for systems requiring additional stability. SAW versions for Super and Hyperbands will be available.
